Risography is a printing technique similar to screen printing, in which layers of different inks are also used to create colors. These are digitized works adapted for printing on a duplicator. Artist Mirel Fraga is a visual artist, designer , and independent editor who has developed much of her career as an artist in Oaxaca City, Mexico. She currently works in her studio, where she focuses on multidisciplinary projects in painting and graphics. She is the co-founder of the independent publishing house Polvoh. Press Oaxaca, with which she has participated as an exhibitor at the publishing fairs: Printed Matter LA, Paperworks CDMX, and Jardín en Oaxaca; at the Rayón CDMX drawing fair; and at the following art fairs: Zona Maco, Material Art Fair CDMX, Feria Gráfica de Oaxaca, and Oaxaca Múltiple, among others. In 2019, he received the Acquisition Award in the Graphic Arts category at the 1st Biodiversity of Mexico Art Biennial 2019. His work has been exhibited individually in various venues in Mexico and in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA, as well as in group exhibitions both domestically and internationally. Mirel has published works through his publishing house Polvoh. She has published her own books—Cosmic Landscape, Wild Wisdom, Analogous Life, We Are Nature, Offering, and Corn: Food Sovereignty and Local Consumption—and numerous collective books focused on disseminating women's graphic work. The most important themes in her work arise from exploring the meaning of life and nature through its flora, fauna, the invisible, and the connection between human beings and the universe, drawing on her own spiritual and artistic quest toward a path of acceptance and inner peace.
